We had the opportunity to interview this gorgeous mama about what she loves about being a mum and how she will be spending Mother's Day this year. Thanks for spending the time to talk to us Amelia. Find her gorgeous feed on instagram @luxe_everyday x
We would love if you would tell us a little about your family?
My husband James and I have two stunning children Artie (3) and Ivy (9 months). Last year Artie was diagnosed with ASD and to be honest it was such a relief to finally get an diagnosis. Our home life can be a little up and down but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I wouldn’t say we have it harder than any other family, it’s just different. And we’ve had to adjust our expectations accordingly. It’s been such a joy to watch Artie start to interact with Ivy. From barely noticing her when she was born, to giving her the sweetest kisses and cuddles.
How will you be spending Mothers Day this year?
Hopefully I’ll get a sleep in until 7am! Then lunch with the family and probably an early night.
What is your go to outfit for every day mum life?
For me it has to be durable and feeding friendly. So I’ve been living in button up shirts and distressed denim, because what are my children going to do to it, rip it?!
What is the best advice you were given as a first time mum?
Self care/love is so important. You are the only one who can give your kids a happy/balanced/well rested mum. Find that thing that energises you and do it whenever you can. That’s why I’m constantly featuring ‘me time’ posts on my Instagram. Mamas need to prioritise themselves occasionally.
Who do you look to for motherhood inspiration?
I’m so blessed to come from a family of strong women who are CFO’s, teachers, business owners etc and they’ve balanced it all with being amazing mums. Watching how they juggled it all is what inspires me to keep building something my kids can be proud of.
Name 3 things you love most about motherhood?
Being the first thing they fall in love with, the endless cuddles and becoming part of a community of women who support each other.
What do your children do to make you laugh?
Ivy loves sticking her tongue out and already has so much sass! Artie can only say about 30 words but he uses them to perfection and delivers these dry one word understatements. We had a tropical storm here the other day and he just looked at me and says ‘Wet’. Like yeah buddy it is wet outside!
