Kings Cross is an area of London that we have always admired. So when we were asked if we wanted our recent campaign to be shot there, there was no question about it! We worked with one of our favourite photographers Alice from @shecriedwolf and the gorgeous model Leanne Maskell, where we sent them our style guide and product and let them explore and scout out all different locations around the area to shoot at. Kings Cross is known for its architecture. The whole place is a mix between modern and old architecture, and there is something truly beautiful about that. It has been used in many films, including the famous Harry Potter. As for its fashion and style, Kings Cross is known for its street style. Some would even say it's the 'center of cool.' It's a place where individuals style and fashion choices speaks casual cool. That whole effortless chic is what we're about this season, and buying quality pieces that can be mixed and matched within your wardrobe. Our shoot shows off both these highlights of Kings Cross. The architecture is prominent in our campaign shots. And as for our clothing, it fits right into the location. The way we style our garments is really important to us. We work long and hard on how we want to style our product and how we want it to look and be portrayed on the model. We aim for looks that can be replicated by our customers, looks that are actually achievable by the modern day woman. Kings Cross bought our garments to life and we feel so privileged that we could shoot in such a cool location. We recently took a day trip to explore our local beaches. Many of us are always in awe of overseas beaches, not realising we have this same beauty right at our door step. We visited a secluded beach on the Great Ocean Road by the name of Johanna Beach. We were the only ones there, plus another man fishing off the sand. There's something about an empty beach that is truly amazing. It really shows off it's true beauty and enables you to breathe in the ocean air. We ventured around in our womenswear. Being made of cotton, this was perfect for the beach day. Cotton breathes in the warmer weather, which is ideal for the summer season. The floaty dresses on the beach were stunning and gave our clothing a dreamy appeal. See below some of our outfits in this beautiful beachscape. Bali is one of those places that are perfect for a family getaway from Australia. Bali was the first country we ever travelled to with the kids and it was also the trip that sealed the deal for a lot more travel with them. Our first trip to Bali was when our first born was 12 months old. We have since returned when the boys were older. Bali has so many hidden gems. There is something around every corner, so I am sharing some of our favourites with you. We had one week in Ubud and one week in Seminyak. What did surprise me was how different Bali was since we first visited. It is now super busy Bali and lots of restaurant and accommodation options. We stayed Royal Tulip Visesa - Jl. Suweta, Banjar Bentuyung Sakti, Ubud, Gianyar, Bali, Ubud, 80571, Indonesia Hotel Vila Lumbung - Jl. Raya Petitenget No.1000X, Bali, Seminyak, 80361, Indonesia We ate La Lucciola - This beachside restaurant is a must and the food was one of our favourite meals. Saigon Street - This was close to our hotel and had the most delicious Vietnamese food. Sea Circus - a very cool resturant with lots of options on what to eat and drink We visited Bali Monkey Forest - If you have been following us you will know our kids love the great outdoors and animals. The boys couldn’t get over the free roaming monkeys and loved the experience. Padang Padang - Gorgeous white sand beaches and crystal blue water. An easy day trip from Seminyak. Pandawa Beach - The beach is accessible down a few flights of steps. Our kids were older and managed perfectly. The beach is beautiful and the water crystal blue. We really loved Bali for a family holiday. With so many activities and sights to see, our kids really enjoyed the experience. Plus, with a six hour flight from Melbourne how could you say no!
Our second week in Mexico was in the gorgeous Tulum. We couldn’t wait for a change of pace from Cancun and were looking forward to some serious beach time. We booked a little villa right on the beach. It was simple but beautiful, complete with a swinging hammock and a two second stroll to a private beach. We were set and could not wait to explore this little paradise in Mexico. Tulum Ruins This was our only day trip where we went to visit the Tulum Ruins, the only remaining ancient Mayan City. It was hot and I recommend getting there first thing in the morning. This place soon became overcrowded with busloads of tourists. While amazing to explore the crowds were off putting. Our boys loved spotting and watching all the wildlife, which became a bit of highlight for them. We did travel with a pram but if I did it again I would recommend carrying small bubs in a baby carrier for ease of getting around the crowds and the stairs. Cenote swimming We continued to explore cenotes that were within walking distance to our hotel. Beach swimming Most of this week consisted of morning walks and afternoon beach days. Our hotel had a private beach and we spent most days here at the beach. It was quiet and a safe place to be with the kids. Eat To be honest we never had a bad meal in Tulum. The food was seriously next level! Some of our favourite places to eat at were: Posada Margherita for great pizzas. The kids loved this place and was super close to our hotel, which also made it super convenient. Mateos Mexican Grill was amazing and super kid friendly. Stay We stayed at Posada-Lamar and I cannot fault this place. They were super helpful and we got a delicious breakfast delivered to our room every morning. It was a quiet oasis that we loved with the kids and the location could not have been more perfect. The service, the place and location would 100 per cent see us return to this little paradise. Transport We had heard lots of things about tourists being targeted by police and so were very nervous to hire a car. We found the idea of a driver an inexpensive and great way to get around. Due to our hotels location you could easily explore on foot or with a taxi.
This was our second trip to Palm Springs. Both short visits but a place that has our family heart. Palm Springs is a beautiful oasis in the middle of the desert. The smell, the sunshine, the food and the shopping are all super fun. It's no secret we are mid century lovers and so palm springs ticks all the boxes to be a favourite family destination. Joshua Tree Joshua tree is a quick 45 minutes from Palm Springs and a great day trip. We headed out just after lunch to avoid the heat in the middle of the day and to be in the park for sunset, which we had heard is amazing, and it did not disappoint. The Cholla Cactus Garden Trail was a highlight for the boys, where they could climb boulders, watch the sun come down and have an afternoon snack. It's hard to explain to magic of Joshua Tree. The feeling that you get when you visit this park is surreal and something that will remain with us forever. This is high on the priority list when visiting Palm Springs. We explored the main centre, where there was a night market on one night. There was fresh produce, singing and dancing. The atmosphere was electric and the kids had a ball. This visit we had a little drive around to see all the mid century architecture. These houses are amazing and mid century is my favourite style of architecture. I love the light, the textures and the shapes. Moorten Botanical Garden If you love a succulent or two, Moorten Botanical Garden is a must visit. Filled with different succulents and filled to the brim with inspiration. This garden was great to visit. Palm springs is a lively oasis in the desert that we could visit over and over. It is a must visit with so many family activities.
As we ventured to Byron Bay to shoot our SS18 womens campaign, we made time to visit Bangalow. This small quaint town is a 20 minute drive from Byron Bay. It's a cute town that has a chilled vibe, but is still away from the busy streets of Byron. Bangalow has one main street that holds the cutest stores and coffee shops. We got to look in a few of these stores and buy fresh produce from the local supermarket. Bangalow is close to the beaches of Byron, but also gives you an insight into the beautiful countryside of the area. It really is the best of both worlds. If you're wanting to visit Byron bay but are wanting to stay somewhere smaller and quieter, then this is the town for you.
Marfa was a surprise package on our recent road trip in the Untied States and one that we loved. Santé Fe to Marfa was a full days driving. The drive through the desert on dusk was a surreal experience. The light was like nothing I have ever seen before and the empty paddocks where literally glowing. We arrived in Marfa late in the evening just on Dusk. We stopped about 30 minutes out of Marfa on highway 90 to view the Prada Sculpture. To be honest, we nearly missed it. Situated in the middle of nowhere, this sculpture stops you in your tracks and does not disappoint. Marfa is said to become a Modern art mecca and one that should not be missed. The town itself had an underlying cool feel to it despite being in the middle of nowhere. We were lucky enough to stay at the El Cosmico. To experience yurt living for a night. It was like proper camping and this place certainly had a special magic about it. This overnight experience in a yurt went down as a family experience that we continue to talk about. The boys loved seeing wild rabbits bound around the camping grounds. The yurt was comfortable with an air-conditioning, which gave us relief from the heat of the desert and essential while travelling with a baby in a porta cot. After the kids fell asleep we enjoyed some much-needed beverages under the stars. There is something magical about sleeping in the Desert and El Cosmico did not disappoint. The next day we woke to a gorgeous sunrise and coffee on the yurt porch. We headed in to explore the town and fuel up on some much needed caffeine. The clean lines of Marfa coupled with the rustic nature (think tumble weeds) of a desert town create a magic I haven’t experienced anywhere else. This cute little town is perfect place to shop and explore some small and quaint art galleries. If you get the opportunity Marfa is a place to pop on the travel bucket list. This town is small in nature but huge in impact. This tiny little town still continues to inspire well after you have departed.
Mexico had been one of my dream destinations for a long time. I had a pen pal growing up in Mexcio and studied Frida Kahlo. Mexico had long been on our dreamy travel list. Our USA and Mexico was an all in one hectic trip. These are my personal outtakes on the trip and travelling with a nine, seven and ten month old. To be honest when we started our research we found little on travelling with kids and in particular babies in Mexico. We had so many questions about the access into centos etc. So I am going to cover off some of the information that wasn't available when we started researching our trips. We have mentioned it before, but we plan all our trips well in advance and we pop a lot of time into researching and pre-booking everything. This is very different to the way we travelled prior to kids but we have also worked out that things run so much smoother when you put the legwork in before you hit the ground travelling with little ones. Playa Del Carmen was our first stop. We thought that this would be a good place to base ourselves for some of the places we had pin pointed that we wanted to visit. I am not going to lie, my first impressions of Playa Del Carmen we're not what I had expected. I was very surprised how 'touristy' this little Mexican town was. We decided not to stay at an all-inclusive resort, as we like to wander and find the hidden gems. However the all-inclusive resorts seems to be a must do when travelling with kids in Mexico. We booked 5 nights at the Hotel Magic Blue, which was a little Oasis right in the hub and opposite the COCO Bongo Nightclub. This hotel was the perfect hub to return to and enjoy a swing in a hammock, a swim and a margarita. For a family of five we had to have separate rooms which we didn't realise when booking. Our children are still young and so we weren’t able to have connecting rooms. It meant the adults had to join the kids in a room each which was not ideal. Day trips We booked our first day tour and to be honest after speaking to a lot of travel groups not many were keen to take on our whole family of 5. So we opted for a private taxi booked through our hotel. To be honest this ended up being the best option! Our driver was so good and we are thankful that he to also had a family and understood our needs. Chichen Itza Our first stop on our day tour was Chichen Itza. We arrived there early to beat both the heat and the crowds... and hot it was! We lasted two hours with the kids. Their amazement soon turned to 'it's so hot'. Walking around with a baby was next level. We were so grateful for the advice to make this our first stop and the umbrella that our driver had provided us with to block out the sun. Cenote swimming Next stop was Cenotes and this to is something we were all looking forward to, plus was our chance to cool off. A centoe is a natural pit, or sinkhole, resulting from the collapse of limestone bedrock that exposes groundwater underneath and they are spectacular with the clearest coldest water I have ever seen. Our first Cenote was nearly empty upon arrival. Our driver recommended that we go to the smaller cenotes to avoid the large crowds and bus groups. The water was super cold but so refreshing. Information regarding kids and particularly babies when visiting cenotes was limited when I began researching. While in Mexico we got to visit quite a few cenotes. Our baby was 10 months old and we were able to take her. We even did the cave diving, which I was super nervous about but she was amazing and embraced it all. The water is cold so after the initial shock she really loved the cold relief from our warm day tours. We did have a life jacket for her and recommend if you are travelling with smaller ones under 12 months to take your own fitted life jacket. But it was a highlight for our whole family to enjoy the cenotes. The walk to some is quite steep so we always had her in a baby carrier and held onto the walking rails. Again I want to stress this is something we felt comfortable doing with all our kids. They love the water and despite the super chilled temperature of the water, Coco loved every minute of it. I suggest to do whatever works with your kids but this was a favourite. Valladolid After cooling off we headed to Valladolid, a quaint brightly coloured Mexican town, for lunch. This beautiful little Mexican village is exactly what I had expected Mexico to be. We had wished that we had booked a couple of nights in this beautiful little place. We ate ice cream, visited a beautiful church and sat in the love seats. This day trip was a highlight for our little family, but it was a super big day of travel. We headed back to our hotel late with some yummy Fajitas. Coba Ruins Our other Day trip we did was Coba Ruins. This was a highlight and it was the ruins that our kids really enjoyed. We hired two bikes for our family of five, which made seeing and climbing the different ruins super achievable and also fun. The kids loved the pace of the bikes weaving in and around the leafy paths. They also enjoyed climbing one of the ruins, which had me shaking in my boots. Going up not so bad but the coming down. While in Playa Del Carmen we spaced our day trips with days by the pool and days to catch up on washing and work emails. We needed to slow the pace and our little one also caught hand foot and mouth, which also meant minimal sleep over this period. We loved the pace of Playa Del Carmen the Mexican food off the beaten track was amazing. It was certainly a great place to base yourself for day trips. If I had my time again I would reduce the 5 days to two days and head straight to Tulum, which was our next stop and a welcomed change of pace that we loved. Must see day trips Coba Ruins Cenote swimming Chichen Itza Valladolid We didn’t get there but was on our wish list was a day visit to Xcaret Eco Archaeological Park Eat We found some quaint little places off the beaten track that served delicious Mexican food. Stay Hotel Magic Blue - buffer breakfast was incredible as where there margaritas . The staff where super friendly and incredibly helpful . Transport We had heard lots of things about tourists being targeted by police and so were very nervous to hire a car. We found the idea of a driver and inexpensive and great way to get around. He was also able to show us some hidden spots for our family to enjoy and we could not recommended this experience more.
