WHAT IS MIANN & CO WOMENSWEAR SIZING LIKE? You might be wondering what to expect from our sizing - and let’s face it, there is no standard when it comes to sizing. I have so many different sizes in my wardrobe and I’m sure you feel the same when I say that choosing the right size – especially when shopping online – can be difficult. While it can be very frustrating to have so many sizes in your wardrobe, we are big believers in wearing what makes you feel good, regardless of the size. Feeling good and comfortable in the clothes you wear is our top priority. We are passionate about teaching women that they are more than the size of their clothing, and we’re always here to help with choosing the best size for you and your needs. So, how do you buy clothing to fit your body online? Scroll down to read our guide to help you choose the right size in Miann & Co with confidence!   WHAT FABRICS DO MIANN & CO USE? We exclusively use natural fibres, and it is something we are extremely passionate about. We typically produce in knitwear and wovens - and we love educating our customers on how these fabrics differ from each other, and how they’re made. Understanding your fabrics is one of our top tips to better shop online. Let’s breakdown our two types of clothing.   WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FROM KNITWEAR? First and foremost, our sizing runs quite generous, and has been intentionally constructed that way. All our knitwear is made exclusively from 100% cotton. Knitwear is made from a single yarn that is continuously looped, meaning they will give with wear and return to shape after washing. Due to the generous nature of our knitwear, if you prefer a firmer fit, we recommend sizing down where possible. As we produce in natural fibres, your knitwear won’t pill or ball like clothing made from synthetic nasties. We deliberately design our products this way so your knitwear can be worn over and over, rather than getting a few wears out of them. Our knitwear sizing generally works to this standard: XS: AU 8-10 S: AU 10-12 M: AU 14-16 L: AU 18-20 XL: AU 20-22 However, there are exceptions with different styles as some pieces have different design features. Our biggest recommendation is to look at the descriptions of each product, regardless of your size or whether you’ve worn our clothing before. We work extremely hard to ensure that our descriptions are tailored to each individual style, and we will always detail if a piece fits larger, or smaller, and any care requirements that a garment may have.   WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FROM WOVENS? The majority of our summer collections are made woven garments. Unlike knitwear, wovens do not have any stretch to them. They are made from multiple threads that are interlaced in a criss-cross pattern and are generally more structured that knitwear. Due to their lack of stretch, our woven garment sizing does differ from knitwear. And differs from garment to garment based on the fibre used. In our woven collections, we use cotton poplin and muslin, and linen/cotton blends to get a light and airy fabrication. Each of these fabrications will have a different fit. Our woven sizing generally works to this standard: XS: AU 8-10 S: AU 10-12 M: AU 14-16 L: AU 16-18 XL: AU 18-20 As with our knitwear, all our woven clothing has exceptions that may make one garment fit differently from another. Again, we recommend reading in-depth the descriptions of each product to better understand what you’re purchasing.   HOW DO I GET THE RIGHT SIZE? Every garment on our website has detailed, individual sizing charts rather than a standard sizing chart for all garments. We do this as we believe it makes it easier to choose the right product for you, and you can get an understanding of the measurements for each piece and measure your body correctly. We use flat measurements for each garment and are measured off the front of the garment only. This means to find circumference; you’ll need to double the measurement if you are measuring against your body. Coupled with the individual detailed product descriptions, you’ll get an accurate description and view of the product and it’s design features. You can find all our size charts at the end of the product image carousel. Another point of reference is our product imagery. Where possible, we try to shoot our garments on many different sized bodies. What we love most about clothing is that everyone likes their garments to fit different ways, and no two people will wear a garment the same! All our product imagery is shot to show how the garment has intentionally been designed, but this doesn’t mean you have to wear the garment that exact way.   WHAT IF I NEED FURTHER ASSISTANCE WITH SIZING?   Kings Cross is an area of London that we have always admired. So when we were asked if we wanted our recent campaign to be shot there, there was no question about it! We worked with one of our favourite photographers Alice from @shecriedwolf and the gorgeous model Leanne Maskell, where we sent them our style guide and product and let them explore and scout out all different locations around the area to shoot at.  Kings Cross is known for its architecture. The whole place is a mix between modern and old architecture, and there is something truly beautiful about that. It has been used in many films, including the famous Harry Potter.  As for its fashion and style, Kings Cross is known for its street style. Some would even say it's the 'center of cool.' It's a place where individuals style and fashion choices speaks casual cool. That whole effortless chic is what we're about this season, and buying quality pieces that can be mixed and matched within your wardrobe. Our shoot shows off both these highlights of Kings Cross. The architecture is prominent in our campaign shots. And as for our clothing, it fits right into the location. The way we style our garments is really important to us. We work long and hard on how we want to style our product and how we want it to look and be portrayed on the model. We aim for looks that can be replicated by our customers, looks that are actually achievable by the modern day woman.  Kings Cross bought our garments to life and we feel so privileged that we could shoot in such a cool location.   Introducing to you part one of our womens AW19 collection. This is our woven cotton side of our AW19 collection, which sees some gorgeous floral prints and stripes. Our gorgeous new shapes include dresses, skirts, pants, a shirt and two flowy tops. These are all great transseasonal pieces that can be worn and styled many different ways, including with our AW19 knitwear that will launch towards the end of February. Our campaign was shot in Kings Cross in London.   Our cotton Katie pants are the ultimate pants this season and are the perfect alternative for skirts and dresses. These pants feature an exaggerated drop crotch, harem style, elastic waist and a tassel feature drawstring.  These pants are available in navy and a blue stripe, keeping in line with our blue colour palette.   If you love our brand, you'll already know we pride ourselves on making our products from cotton. From our crochet toys to our knit and woven clothing, we have always worked with 100% cotton natural fibres.  The true beginnings of our cotton use came out of a need. Our first born was born with allergies and suffered from eczema quite badly in the initial years. As a result, it had us seeking natural cotton fibre toys, which 10 years ago were nearly non existent. Most toys and baby clothing was mixed with acrylic or wool, which agitated and activated our baby boys skin further.  The use of cotton has become a pillar of our brand despite the limitations that sometimes come in design with using this fibre as a base. Natural fibres are an investment and despite raising costs we still remain super loyal to cotton as our main fabrication.  We talk a lot about natural fibres and we want to show you why we choose to use these in our ranges every time, and some of the reasons why we believe in this magic fibre so much.    Cotton breathes - It is a yarn that is easy on the skin and the fabric allows your skin to breathe reducing the amount of sweat - we all want to avoid those sticky situations and we have all had one experience with a garment that has you sweating like no other. These garments are normally made from a synthetic fibre and should be avoided for this reason.  Cotton is comfortable to wear - Even when the skin heats up it doesn't make the fabric itchy or scratchy on the skin or have little ones complaining.  Easy to care for - All our cotton products are durable and easy to launder and should be treated like a cotton t-shirt. This is definitely why it is our fabric of choice when it comes to kids wear. Any parent will relate to the rigorous washing of clothing that must stand up with little ones and this is why cotton remains our fabrication of choice.  This season we have continued our use of cotton in our womens range. This meant having to be careful with weights to get our desired drape on many of our designs.  With increasingly busy lives, we want to simplify the laundering process and strongly believe that this is another huge benefit to cotton, along with the extended longevity of a garment with the use of this fibre.  We encourage you to trial wearing natural fibres before you invest in a whole wardrobe. MEET LOLA. Our new knit tie waist dress.  This is the perfect dress to take from day to night and is one that you can simply chuck on without having to put in much effort at all (winning!). A loosely shaped short sleeve dress, that is knee length and features front and back V neckline details. The waist tie allows the dress to be tied in if desired. This tie can also be removed and the dress can be worn alone, with a belt or with a belt bag, making it a versatile piece.  Being made from the finest 100% cotton yarn, this dress is lightweight and is bound to be comfortable all day and night long. It will breathe in the summer and can also be layered over jeans with a cardi and boots when it gets cooler. The navy colour is something that will fit into your wardrobe easily, and can be paired back with any other colour you currently have in your closet.    Style tips* With it's v neckline, I personally love this dress worn back with some layered fine chains and a pair of natural wedges. This is a more dressy approach to the dress and allows for some lipstick and leather jacket to be added.  For a more casual look, I love this paired with tan sandals and tortoise earrings for a great Spring Summer look. When I'm going shopping or for coffee, I wear my dress with trainers, belt bag and a denim jacket if it's cooler.
