Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads out there! I recently had the pleasure of interviewing Co-founder of Miann & Co, Terry, to find out how he's spending Fathers Day with his three beautiful kids this year, and special memories he has from his childhood. Let us know how you're spending Fathers Day this weekend. How do you like to spend Fathers Day? As long as it is with my family, I really don’t mind what we do. Sometimes we go away for the weekend and that makes it a special weekend for everyone and not just because it’s fathers day. Having fun is what counts most. What are you hoping your kids do for Fathers Day? I hope they behave!! No, just joking, I hope we get to spend time together and really anything they do will be great! What's your favourite breakfast? Breakfast burritos are my absolute favourite! Especially if one of the fillings are Chorizo sausage. Trying something new and different when you go out for Breakfast is great too. What do you remember about Fathers Day as a kid? Well, I remember getting up early to give my dad his present. Generally it was something we made at school. We also use to steel his aftershave or something like that to wrap up and re-gift to him ... I was very tight. What are your best memories of holidays or family gathering as a child? I used to love holidays, because we all got together as a family and would do something, even if it was a picnic for the day or go away for the weekend to catch up with family. When the whole family got together it was a big event and I remember how much fun and laughter there use to be when everyone was together. How would your kids describe you? That’s a tough one!! Depends on the day I think and if they get their way or not... What's the best thing about being a father? Being able to share your life with your kids and being able to make them laugh, there is nothing more rewarding or satisfying than making your kids laugh and hearing them laugh from their stomach.
'Our moments of magic between the madness...' I recently had the pleasure of interviewing Rachael from @dearest.sisters, who gave as an insight into motherhood and her family life. We absolutely adore Rach's instagram feed and her photos are just gorgeous! Be sure to check it out, enjoy x Describe your family lifestyle in five words... Homebodies are the best bodies What is something your kids have taught you? There is nothing stronger or more powerful than a mothers love, it's even made me appreciate the love my mother has for me a lot more. Where's your favourite family hangout? Our favourite hangout would have to be my bed :) we snuggle in there every morning and every night, or our backyard watching 'the birdies' with Lailah! Where's your favourite family travel spot? We definitely do not travel haha Lailah pretty much has a break down after being in the car longer than 20 minutes so I can only imagine a plane trip. Maybe when she can leave to express herself without screaming and throwing every object in site haha Zaylee seems much more chilled than Lailah ever was so there's some hope there. What's your favourite thing to do when you have time to yourself? What is time to myself ;) I would sadly have to say scrolling back through photos and videos of the girls and admiring all their quirky features. Give us three parenting tips... Three tips.....never try to reason with a toddler having a tantrum, if you're trying to save money don't go on Instagram ;) and always make time to read to your little one, once they start they enjoy it much more than iPads and tv! What's your favourite meal to cook that your kids love? Creamy vegetable fettuccini, I'm a vegetarian and Lailah rarely eats meat by choice! Zaylee's fave would have to be breast milk haha What's your tips and tricks to that perfect instagram photo? Never expect to get the perfect photo and somehow it just happens.......that and lighting! Natural light is key. And finally, what's the best thing about being a mum? That's a hard one, I would have to say it's holding them close and knowing that you'll always love one another unconditionally.

In need of a break from work, as we haven’t had any time off in the last 6 months, I think we needed and deserved this one! Leaving work early Thursday, we headed straight for the airport and headed for Hobart! When we arrived, we had an early dinner and headed straight to bed, ready for our holiday to begin! Friday we decided to have a relaxing day, heading out to the infamous museum called MONA. It is all about old and new age art and intertwining the two together. I have always wanted to visit, as we have been to Tasmania before, but never had the chance. This time I made sure we went, and I guarantee it is worth it. Our boys absolutely loved it too, unsure whether 2 primary school kids would enjoy it, but they had a blast. We spent nearly the whole day here, having a break mid way for lunch. I would recommend this as one of the MUST VISIT places. Friday night we walked along the harbour of Hobart, which was absolutely stunning. The trees have fairy lights hung over them, making the walk very magical. We settled on an Italian restaurant, lots of pasta and lots of bread, just what we needed. After dinner we walked along the pier and admired the views, whilst burning off dinner. Saturday morning, we headed out early to have a feast for breakfast of eggs, bacon and sourdough, or pancakes for the boys. We then had a wander through the weekly Salamanca market. It is decked out with handmade and local creations, filled with quirky and unique gifts, along with delicious food and drinks. We then headed for our next destination, 3 hours away along the long windy road to Bicheno. We hired a car at the airport so we could get around with ease and comfort. We stopped off for a break at Freycinet National Park. It added more time to our trip, but so worth it. This is about 2 hours from Hobart and has the most stunning views. We went for a walk to the Wineglass Bay lookout. This takes about an hour return, and you end up at an amazing white sand beach. We kept driving and stopped off at a beach further along the road. The boys jumped out of the car and headed straight for the rock pools. They loved it here, looking for any creatures they can find. Despite the fact that it winter, they still managed to go for a dip in the water. Thirty minutes passed and we arrived at Bicheno. We booked a house to stay in whilst we spent a few days up here. Walking out the back of the house, we stepped onto our own private beach! This was unreal, we couldn’t believe it, and we loved every second of it. We spent the rest of the day eating and walking along the beach. We ended up at a blowhole; the boys were blown away, literally. I have never seen one before, and from the expression on the boy’s faces you could tell they haven’t either. Sunday we headed out to spend the day at Nature World. This is a very hands-on experience and perfect if you have little ones. They have everything here from snakes to wombats to Tassie devils. Despite the chill, we spent a lot of time outside, feeding and petting all the different animals. We set aside an entire day to visit here, and trust me you need it. They have walk through aviaries, if you are lucky enough some of the birds may sit on your shoulder or head. Being immersed in a huge enclosure full of all different birds, big and small is a lot of fun. They have a restaurant here as well, so no need to rush around; lunch is all done for you. Monday we decided to go for a drive around the area and do a bit of exploring. We stumbled across a berry farm that specialised in our favourite strawberries. You get a little bucket and are free to collect as little or as much as you want. Our boys really enjoyed this, picking and tasting all our own strawberries. We may have picked more than we could eat, but we ended up buying some ice cream later and had them together for dessert. Monday night we headed out and had an amazing dinner at a seafood restaurant. Tasmania has some of the best fish you will ever find. If you ever visit, you MUST have a seafood dinner or lunch at least once. You will end up having it more than once after trying it... I know I did! The boys had a simple meal of just fish and chips, and we opted for a seafood marinara. They were both absolutely delectable. Tuesday we headed back to Hobart. We ended up staying in a small house in Sandy Bay, just out of Hobart. We walked around this small town and checked out all the local shops. We found a delicatessen and patisserie shop called Lipscombe Larder. We came back here more than once, it has delicious home cooked breads and gourmet cheeses, everything you could want for an amazing picnic or cheese platter. Absolutely delicious eats for the whole family, even some little gourmet desserts. Our last full day in Tasmania, we headed to Willy Smith’s Apple Shed. It is a organically grown apples turned into delicious ciders in the Huon Valley of Tasmania. We had lunch here, and my oh my the food was incredible! I would recommend the roast pumpkin bruschetta, served with goats cheese and pesto. They have a small museum as part of the cider house, a history on the 4 generations of family that have built this business to where it is at today. For the rest of the afternoon, we wandered around Hobart, checking out the shops and old buildings, before flying back home tomorrow morning. We highly recommend Tassie for a family holiday! It was awesome to get away and go exploring, even if it was just for one week. Below are some of our favourite memories from our mini vacay. What's your favourite holiday destination to take the little ones? Let us know in the comments below!

This month is all about our mummas! We would like to share an insight into the life of an Insta Mum; Lauren Leeds or known as @lozleeds She is local to us and we absolutely adore what she does! Read below to see all the insider tips on motherhood, family life and everything in between. About the girls I am super blessed to be the mama of two gorgeous little munchkins. Savannah is 3 going on 13 and Clementine (Clemmie) has just turned 1. They are both super fun little ones with very different personalities. This past year since Clemmie has joined our family, I have really noticed how different they are! Savannah definitely keeps us on our toes as she begins to assert her independence and wants to live her life as a “big girl.” Her silly, cheeky personality has us giggling all day and she still gives the best cuddles (much to this mamas delight!). Clemmie is our quiet, gentle little soul. She’s an awesome sleeper, an awesome eater and just all around awesome little person. As all little sisters do, she basically spends her day following around Savannah and much to her delight, playing with her toys too. They balance each other out perfectly and watching their relationship blossom has been so special. Motherhood When people would ask me what I wanted to do with my life, my response was always that I wanted to be a mum. Sure, I had other goals and ambitions for my life but ultimately that was my greatest desire. I was so excited to become a mum and grow our family but as with anything you do for the first time, there’s a major learning curve and you quickly realise not every moment is sunshine and rainbows. Since becoming a mum I have realised that motherhood encompasses a love that is endless, selfless and unconditional. Its unwashed hair, pureed vegies all over your top and sleepless nights, its hard work! And still, I wouldn’t change it for anything. I have the privilege of raising these tiny humans to become the best versions of themselves. It’s my goal as their mum to keep their childhood magical while also instilling in them the important skills and values they need to guide them in life. Something my kids have taught me One of the biggest things my girls have taught me is to see the wonder and magic in life’s simplest things. As mums, I think it’s natural for us to become consumed with our daily routines and making sure things run smoothly for everyone. Whether it’s getting everyone dressed, fed and out the door on time in the morning, or juggling five appointments, the grocery shopping and swimming lessons. It’s easy to just keep your head down and get through the day. It’s in those moments when I’m stressing out and trying to recall the long list of jobs that I have for the day that Savannah will point out a dragonfly out the window, or Clemmie will tug on my sleeve and hold up a book. It’s in those moments that I realise that these little people notice and see things that I so often overlook. The world is new, exciting and fun in their eyes and they want their mama to explore it with them. The washing can wait, the dishes will get done and take-out was invented for a reason. They are only little once and I don’t want to miss out on seeing the magic of a butterfly, the beautiful colours and patterns on a leaf, or the joy of jumping in a muddy puddle. Favourite family hangout Honestly, our favourite family hangout is at home. My hubby works long hours and often weekends, so when he has a long stretch of time with us, we usually just hang at home. Home is where the girls love to be the most, so often we will be curled up in our PJ’s, watching Disney movies and making forts. Favourite family travel spot in Australia We LOVE Byron Bay and go every year. Usually when my hubby finishes work for the year, we escape to Byron for a couple of weeks and just chill out. We love the laid-back nature and relaxing vibe of Byron, and the heat isn’t bad either when you come from Geelong and feel like you live in everlasting winter lol. We also love the café culture, the amazing beaches and the shopping. There is something to do for everyone and we always leave feeling refreshed, its awesome. Favourite place to escape winter Our family are big fans of Fiji. It’s true what they say about “Fiji time” and if you want to escape to one of the friendliest, most relaxed cultures, then this is the place for you. The Fijian people are so beautiful and accommodating and love children. Easter with the girls Easter long weekend was a big one for us as it was also Savannahs birthday on the Saturday, so it was one big celebration! Fun fact: I am originally from the States and as is American custom, every holiday is done larger than life! Easter is no exception and was so excited to celebrate with the girls this year. The day was pretty much going to church, having lunch with family, Easter baskets and an Easter egg hunt (most for Savannah as I am still a sugar scrooge when it comes to Clemmie loI). Finding little things for their Easter baskets has been super fun…I found little Easter Bunny bubble sticks the other day! I think I got more excited than they do… Favourite thing I like to do on my own I’m really passionate about photography and have been teaching myself over the past year and loving it! I have so much more to learn but I love having a hobby of my own which can also incorporate my girls. I started exploring photography because of them and it’s been fun to document their days. So quite often when I’m on my own you’ll find me sitting in my dark study, crouched over the computer editing for hours! I find it really therapeutic and creative to edit as I try to find a story behind each photograph. However, when I’m not doing that, I do love a pamper sesh to feel refreshed and rejuvenated! Parenting tips Remember in the hardest of times that the tantrums will pass, the guilt will fade, and it’s ok not to be perfect! Cherish the great days and try to shrug off the bad days as just that, a bad day – that’s all! You are doing a great job! Inspiration I think a lot of my interior inspiration comes from Instagram and I really love handmade. There is something so unique and special about owning handmade pieces, each one tells a story! It is through this tiny app that I’ve made connections and formed relationships with some incredible people from all over the world. I love being able to log on and see an amazing space created by a blogger in Sweden, then scroll down to see how a mum in Melbourne has used unique wallpaper in her daughters room makeover, and the list goes on. Instagram has given me the ability to access all of these small businesses that I would have never known were out there otherwise. Celebrating in Style I do love a bit of entertaining and find party planning super fun. I decided early on that I would do a big 1st birthday for each of the girls. Not only did I want to celebrate the milestone of getting through the first year, I also really wanted to make it a special time to remember. I chose a theme for each of the girl’s birthdays and went to work! For Savannah she had a bunny party and Clemmie just had a floral/garden themed birthday. I find lots of inspiration on Pinterest based on what I’m looking for and there are some great groups on Facebook specifically for parties that have every theme you can imagine (check out Party Mums). I also try and make some of my decorations, there are some great tutorials out there and I promise you they don’t all turn out as Pinterest fails! I find this not only adds something special to the day, but also can be reused in the girl’s rooms after the party. For example, I recently made some floral wreaths to hang over the dessert table at Clemmies party and now I am thinking of incorporating them into her room. Be creative and think outside of the box, you may surprise yourself at what you can create! All time favourite children’s books I am always drawn to beautiful illustrations but also books that have a purpose to the story. Books that get children to think and empathize, but most importantly also books that can result in a belly laugh. Some of her current favourites include Where is the Green Sheep, Guess how much I love you and Ruby Red Shoes. SHOP THE EDIT // 1. GREY KNIT DRESS | 2. FRANKIE FAIRY | 3. PINK KNIT BEANIE | 4. This week marks an exciting week for us. It is one year since we embarked on a massive rebrand, transforming from La De Dah Kids to Miann & Co. This saw the beginning of what was a huge year for us, having an overwhelming response to both the new name and also our new clothing product lines. It was an incredibly nerve-racking process with us being super excited about the new name and moving direction of the company. To be honest, we had no idea of the things that would come when we started La De Dah Kids almost 6 years ago. Starting a business at the same time as having a newborn and a toddler at home, seemed like a good idea at the time, but to be honest it was harder work, longer hours and less sleep than we had ever imagined. Those first years were hard, but we set aside 5 years to make it work and give it everything we had including all our personal finances. We are so excited that we are still operating and growing in what seems to be a difficult retail climate. This last year, Miann & Co has grown incredibly with years of hard work starting to come together and our vision for the business is clearer than ever. Our brand and business is unrecognizable to the business and brand we started with. We now have a small team of clever and passionate employees that we are so grateful to work alongside every single day. Over the years, we had many requests for adult versions of some of our products. It has been the main driving force behind the rebrand to enable our offering to not be just for kids, but to include pieces that the whole family can enjoy. Including clothes and keepsake pieces of homewares that families can enjoy and be very much part of their family and their families memories. We are looking forward to the future and believe we have only just scratched the surface on what the Miann & Co brand will become with the addition of new styles, a wider range and introducing new collaborations and collections outside the kids space. We wanted to mark our 6th year in business and our first year as Miann & Co with a special celebration, a spend and save promotion store wide to say thank you for supporting our little business and for backing us 150%. It is why we still get to do what we love every day, and we cannot be more grateful for you embracing us and the journey we are on. Biggest thanks xxx

Struggling for new things to do these school holidays? We have got you covered, no matter what the age of your little ones are. Let's go for a drive down the coast along the Great Ocean Road, stopping at the waterfalls, the Apostles and enjoying the beautiful views along the way. But before you stop and see any of this, stop off at Bellbrae, located at the start of this long costal road, about 30 minutes from Geelong. This small town has become the newest hit, all thanks to the Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery or GORCI. You will be able to spend all day here... trust me once you are there its hard to leave! Driving up, you will feel like you are in a whole new world. Straight off the busy road and into a secluded sanctuary. The area has been beautifully done, surrounded by trees and the carpark and outer gardens filled with flora. Once you reach the building you are instantly shown some of the creations GORCI has in store for you. Their MASSIVE, and I mean MASSIVE, ice creams and gelato. Asking for a single scoop cone, you really get an icecream the size of your kids head! You are 100% getting your moneys worth. The flavours here are divine. There are some classics like strawberry or choc chip, or dive head first into flavours like honeycomb, rum and raison or my favourite snickers. Get that double scoop if you are game enough. After walking past the ice-cream kiosk, you walk up through the revolving door and into what can only be described as the modern day Wonka Factory. There is chocolate EVERYWHERE. You can watch the chocolate being created, or just simply wander through the chocolaterie and peruse the stands and walls of chocolate. There is every type of chocolate you can wish for; nougat, lolly snakes, rocky road... chocolate in and on anything! It is the most purest chocolate, you can't leave here without buying something. Get in before the Easter bunny buys the building out. Don't worry if you are overwhelmed by it all, have a seat at their restaurant for a coffee, and lunch. Opt for something light like the salad (so you can fill up on some more chocolate). On you way out don't forget to take a free scoop of white, milk or dark chocolate for the road trip. Continue on following the Great Ocean Road to discover something new for yourself! Every time I travel along the picturesque road, I notice something new for myself.
