When you look at your wardrobe, what do you see? Do you covet vintage and eclectic pieces, bold prints and colours? Or are you more into the blue jeans, white shirts and sunglasses that scream classic French style? Or are you seeking to condense your wardrobe into something smaller, a capsule collection? Here are our five natural fibre wardrobe must haves that will make picking an outfit, a little easier - no matter your style. The Chloe Pant Those who have worn her know how comfortable she is, and those who have been eyeing her off – this is your sign. Chloe is like your favourite pair of comfy, worn track pants that never see the outside world and you cannot bear to part with, but a whole lot cuter. Featuring a drop crotch design that can be worn below or above the hips, in a range of stunning colours, you may not be able to stop at just one pair. Wear her with our matching hoodies, or style her up with a cute lacy cami and a pair of boots – your options are endless. The Demi Singlet This piece is the perfect all rounder – you’ll be wearing her from Winter to Summer, Rain or Shine. Made from 100% cotton, throwing her on with a snuggly cardi in the cold weather will keep you warm, and pairing her back with your favourite denim shorts or over bathers in the summer won’t leave you feeling sticky or overheated. This is a simple, boxy shape designed for all body types. The Delilah Cardigan That neutral, chunky cardi you’ve been searching for has arrived. In our super popular Biscotti shade, Delilah features a basket weave knit and ribbed outer hem for extra warmth and coverage. She’s toasty, warm and made from all natural fibres – you’ll be skipping your coats and picking her instead. Pair her with your favourite jeans and a white t-shirt, or throw her over your favourite summer dresses when the night gets cool. The Daisy T-Shirt A knit t-shirt may seem a little daunting – but hear us out. There’s nothing worse than being stuck in a synthetic top in the summer, they’re unbearably hot and don’t have the longevity of a natural fibre piece. Our Daisy is a thin cotton knit, moisture wicking, cool in the summer, warm in the winter and so soft against the skin. You’ll never want to wear another t-shirt again. The Lola Dress Versatility comes alive in this dress. Lola is the dress you can dress up, or down – the dress you’ll pair with over the knee boots in the winter and wear on the hottest days in summer over your bathers or by herself. Wear her loose, or cinch in your waist with the added tie knit belt. Throw a jumper or a cardigan over the top when the days get cold, and keep cute all season long. We’d love to know your wardrobe staples! All our love, Miann & Co x
The shift between seasons can be a hard time for styling. It's not too hot, it's not too cold, so what do you wear? No one wants to load up on coats and jumpers only to hold them for the rest of the day when it gets warm as much as no one wants to be freezing because they thought they could get away with only a long sleeve t-shirt. We think there is no better option for this strange time of the year, than to invest in beautiful, cotton knits. I can see you recoiling at the mere mention of the word 'knit' anywhere near warm weather. And this may be true if we were talking about wool or cashmere - that are both known for keeping you extremely cosy, and also being packed away as soon as the weather gets warm. Cotton, on the other hand, is completely different. Cotton is our go-to fabric for all seasons. You would have heard the saying, it's cool in summer and warm in winter, and that's completely true! Cotton is super breathable, wicks away moisture and helps to regulate temperature. It's also extremely versatile. It can be jersey, woven or knit - so there really is a cotton for all seasons. In the trans-seasonal months (we're talking Spring and Autumn) is where cotton really shines. You won't have to wear unnecessary layers with cotton, simply throw on a cotton knit t-shirt with your favourite cotton cardigan for the perfect trans-seasonal look. We also love a cotton cardigan layered over one of our summer dresses, taking what is typically for warmer weather, straight through to the cold months. With cotton having so many amazing features, you'll love wearing it not only for transitional weather, but all year round. What are your favourite benefits of cotton? All our love, Miann & Co x
We aren't big on the old saying, 'pink is for girls, blue is for boys'. It's restricting, outdated. Clothing is clothing, colours are colours. Children should grow up allowed to wear what they want, be who they want to be and love who they want to love. Check out below for our favourite gender neutral styles with our brand new collection, Clear Skies Ahead. 1. A Dream of Warmer Days Our rich Café Au Lait colour compliments and brings warmth to both of these pieces. The Clay Beanie and Biscotti Speckle Bloomers make great partners for the perfect neutral, tonal outfit. Layer up with our Textured Rib Leggings for colder days to protect delicate skin. 2. For The Dinosaur Lover Dinosaur's may seem scary, but we think differently. This beautiful jumper featuring a motif of a soon to be released Large Softie is one of our favourites for the trans-seasonal period. Paired with our new Knit Shorts and Clay Chunky Beanie, this outfit is perfect for little ones who love adventure. 3. Soft & Sweet Our Rib Knit Jumper is a Miann & Co classic, and we just had to bring it back again. In our new season colours, Biscotti & Rosewater, these jumpers are so cosy. Our Slate Knit Shorts really make this outfit pop with it's punchy and bold blue shade. When paired together with our Chunky Beanie in Grey Marle, this outfit softens and becomes one of our new favourites for trans-seasonal weather. Are you are fan of gender neutral styling? We'd love to know your tips! All our love, Miann & Co x
Winter lingers. Frosted mornings, iced over windscreens. The whisper of breath on a cold day. But something calls from the corner of your eye, a bright flash of colour on a new blossom, the tickle of a warm sun on the back of your neck. Overcast days grow few and far between and suddenly there she is, Spring beckoning you with her familiar song. When the days of isolation, of winter, felt too long, we dreamed of brighter days. Lighter colours, lighter clothes. To feel the sun dusting our bare shoulders and the songbirds crowing on a bright morning. From this, our latest collection Clear Skies Ahead was born. Lovers of our Textured Knit Leggings will be overjoyed that we are bringing back the beautiful colours Slate, Cafe Au Lait and Evening Sand - along with a new rich, golden brown tone - Fawn Speckle. Fawn Speckle runs through this collection, in our popular Knit Wrap Bodysuit and the sweetest pair of Bloomers. These colours pair back so effortlessly with our brand new Knit Shorts and Knit T-Shirts - both made with warmer days in mind. We're so excited to add these pieces to our collection. With Rib Jumpers, and two new slogan Jumpers - Little Dinosaur and Be Brave, a reminder to keep spirits high even when that may seem the opposite of what your heart calls you to do. We hope Clear Skies Ahead brightens your days and fills your heart with the same warmth that it has filled ours. All our love, Miann & Co x Watch our campaign video now:

There’s nothing worse than a baby or child who struggles to find sleep – both for the family and the little one! As a parent or guardian it can seem like a never ending struggle when they won’t go to sleep, or frequently wake up during the night. We’ve compiled a list of some of our favourite ways to lull our little ones off to sleep (they’re so good they can even work for you!) Sleep Starts with the Bath Bath-time can either been seen as fun, or the most painful time of the night for all involved. Adding a few scoops of Epsom Salts or Magnesium Flakes into the bath, along with the warm water can help to settle little one’s and prep them for a long, restorative night’s sleep. The Magic of Magnesium Magnesium has long been used as a way to soothe and calm. It’s a super important mineral that supports the body by regulating neurotransmitters that calm the nervous system – a major player in getting sleepy. Sprays, roll-ons and wipes can be used externally on the body (they work great on the soles of the feet) to help aid in sleep. You can shop our favourites here. All Natural Bedding Cotton and natural fibres breathe, which is super important in ensuring your little one gets a good night’s sleep. We choose natural fibre bedding every time for their hypoallergenic and temperature regulating properties. They’ll keep your baby warm in the winter and cool in the summer – better sleep for you and your bub. The Power of Scent Smell has a massive affect on the brain. They are stored in a long term memory and can take us straight back there with one sniff. Using a diffuser, spray or oil burner (though please make sure the candle is put out before you go to sleep) every night can help your little one understand that it’s rime to rest. We prefer using Lavender for it’s natural anti-anxiety and calming properties, or Willelaine's Calming Roll-on. We hope this brings you and your little one some restful nights! What are your tops for getting off to sleep? All our love, Miann & Co x
Laundry day can often seem super daunting. Between clothing, bedding, towels and the like it can be hard to know where to begin – some items need specific treatment, things need to be sorted in to lights and darks, the list can seem endless. To lighten the load, we’ve put together a step-by-step list that you can follow to make laundry day a little easier! STEP ONE: Remove the bedding. Separate out lights and darks, or any items that may have marks or stains (but hopefully you’ve washed these items as soon the mark/stain occurred.) STEP TWO: We prefer to use an eco-friendly laundry powder or liquid. Some of our favourites are from the Ecostore as they don’t make our skin react negatively. We have some great options available here. STEP THREE: Load the bedding into the washing machine, or if you’re hand washing, into the laundry trough. Don’t wind the bedding around the agitator. Place one piece on one side, and balance it up on the other side. This will reduce any damage to the cotton. STEP FOUR: Follow the directions on the back of your laundry detergent and add to the wash as required. Surprisingly, you may be putting in more detergent than you actually need! More detergent than necessary can leave residue on your clothing and bedding, and is also bad for your washing machine. STEP FIVE: Set your machine to a cold, gentle wash. You can wash your bedding in warm/hot water if you like, but some shrinkage may occur. STEP SIX: When done, pull out the bedding and hang out to dry or place in the dryer on a cool setting. STEP SEVEN: Place the bedding back on your bed, or store in your linen cupboard. As a finishing touch to give our bedding a beautiful, calming smell, we like to use a few spritzes of our Willelaine Aromatherapy sprays. Our favourite is the Refresh Mist! OUR TOP TIPS - Always wash your bedding before you use it for the first time – we prefer to wash in cold water with an eco-friendly detergent on a gentle wash setting. All our products are pre-washed so they can be worn or used as soon as you get them, but washing them yourself is a great way to get out any washing products or odours. - Hang them to dry. We don’t recommend tumble drying sheets as we believe the less time a product spends in the machine the better (But we totally get it if you don’t have access to a line, or it’s raining. Always dry in cool air). Cotton is super durable and can last for years, but sometimes accidents do happen and snags can occur – we prefer to eliminate the risk as much as we can. How do you like to wash your items? All our love, Miann & Co x
Bed time stories are one of our favourite ways to spend time with our little ones. Your bub is never too young to learn the magic of reading. Never to young to be taken to a new place, a new land with a group of imaginary friends. I’ve loved books for as long as I can remember, I’ve always been entranced by the magic that can be weaved by words alone. There are classics from my childhood that I now read to my own children, and new stories from new authors that are just as magical. Wombat Stew by Marcia Vaughan This story is an iconic Australian Classic. If you grew up in Australia, odds are this one was read to you time and time again. The classic tale of bush animals trying to evade a Dingo’s meal, it also features one of the catchiest songs of all time. Guess How Much I Love You by Sam McBratney A gorgeous book that was a favourite in our house – and never failed to make my mum cry (so needless to say this book wasn’t read that much). This beautiful story follows a baby hare comparing it’s love for their parent to larger and larger objects to show the love they share for each other. Where Is The Green Sheep? by Mem Fox Super cute illustrations and a simple story to follow make this book a great choice for young children (and their parents!). Mem Fox, Australian author of classics like Possum Magic, has created another memorable book for the whole family to enjoy. The Story of the Little Mole (Who knew it was none of his business) by Werner Holzwarth This book is a family favourite and cult classic. Hilarious and memorable, it tells the tale of a mole who wakes up with another animal’s ‘business’ on his head and venturing out to find out who did it. 10 Little Fingers and 10 Little Toes by Mem Fox Celebrating the cuteness of babies, this is a great heart-melting read for adults and kids alike. With beautiful illustrations and wording, this will be a book your little one begs you to read over and over again. We’re always on the hunt for more books to add to our library to read to our little ones, so we’d love to hear all your recommendations! All our love and the sweetest of dreams, Miann & Co
If you’re a long time lover of Miann & Co, or even a newcomer to our brand, you’ll know that natural fibres are our thing. We live and breathe by the ethos that the more natural a product is, the better it is for ourselves, for our families and for the environment – and our brand is a true reflection of that. The benefits of natural fibres are endless, we could talk about it all day long. And we also believe that natural fibres should be included as much as possible in every facet of our lives – one of our favourite, and most simple ways to introduce these benefits, is in bedding. Skin is the body’s biggest organ and our protective barrier. It’s common knowledge that ‘we are what we eat’, or – what we put into our body is what fuels us, what we become. Food allergies can show up on the skin as much as taking supplements for gut health can cause your skin to take on a healthy glow. But did you know that whatever you put on your body, and around it, will be absorbed? This is true for not only lotions and creams, but your clothing and bedding as well. As synthetic fibres are made from plastics and the like, to have them against your skin means your skin is absorbing them. Natural fibres, being completely devoid of the nasties that occur in synthetics, are inherently better for those with skin conditions. Cotton is hypoallergenic – and our journey with natural fibres began when our child developed eczema, and we found his toys (made from synthetics) were only making it worse. Along with swapping out toys and clothes for cottons, we found that changing his bedding to all natural cotton helped immensely. You’ve probably heard time and time again that cotton breathes. This allows air to freely move through the fabric, rather than trapping heat like synthetics. For babies and little ones, this means that the trapped heat will cause them to overheat and sweat. As synthetics don’t absorb and release moisture, it will sit on the skin causing them to cool down rapidly. These temperature changes are uncomfortable and often times results in waking your child up. Natural fibres will not only keep your children at a desired temperature while they sleep due to their breathability and moisture wicking properties, but you’ll get a good nights sleep too. Another benefit of natural fibres is how easy they are to care for. With cotton (especially bedding) you can throw into a washing machine with a bit of fabric detergent and cold water and know that they will come up as good as new. We prefer to hang our cotton bedding on the line, but they also do great in a low temperature dryer. The easier things are to wash, the more we’re inclined to use them. And finally, cotton is of the earth. Straight from mother nature herself. This also means that cotton is 100% biodegradable and doesn’t contribute to the waste produced by the fast fashion industry that wind up in landfills. Synthetic fibres cannot break down and ultimately poison the environment they land in, unlike natural fibres. The decision to swap to natural fibre bedding is an easy one. You can check out our varied selection of gorgeous bedding here. All our love, Miann & Co x
We’re so excited to introduce our new prints for spring and summer. Three beautiful, dreamy prints that are dotted and spread throughout our bedding and ranges to come. Featuring sheets, pillow cases and long awaited duvet covers, this range is a new favourite of ours. Prairie Wilflower, Café Au Lait Stripe and Sweet Meadow are directly inspired by our love for a simpler time - Sprawling fields, littered with flowers. A crisp breeze under a warm sun. Undergrowth sprouting through the earth. Whispers on the wind, promises of more, of new, of old. A manor hidden within the forest, of green sprawling pastures and crumbling plaster. A place to get lost and a place to be found. These prints are designed to mix and match, for all children. Bring warmth and light your space with the rich chocolate browns, sweet nutmeg pinks, the gentle spread of littered lilac blooms and all the life cornflower blue can offer. Like a story book, like an adventure, like a long forgotten box of vintage polaroids waiting to be rediscovered – these prints play on your nostalgia, your yearning of a time lost. Prairie Wildflower is inspired by our love of the rolling prairie landscapes that spill out of the Northern Hemisphere. Invoking memories of a string of wheat, silken bows and frill white dresses, we designed Prairie Wildflower to pull vintage nostalgia straight from the heart. Café Au Lait Stripe is our neutral print for this season. Inspired heavily by our most popular colourway this year and old, vintage photographs of beachscapes, littered with fabulously striped umbrellas. Sweet Meadow is inspired by vintage florals and the Parisian countryside. Soft, sweet and muted in it’s colours, this print is designed in-house and we adore it’s effortless and timeless feel. Which print is your favourite? We’d love to know. We hope you love our new prints as much as we do. All our love, Miann & Co x
We have all been there, walking around a foreign city or even a weekend away with your family and you start to notice an odour, and it's coming from your clothes. You may notice that while it's not too hot out, you feel overly warm and like your body can't breathe. Often, this is the cause of synthetic fibres. Synthetics fibres are often denser and heavier than their natural fibre counterparts - meaning they absorb and hold stains, dirt and smells. When we buy clothes or search for fabric, very few of us really wonder where it has come from, but perhaps we should. Thinking about how our fabrics were created, as well as whether they are good for us and the environment should be at the forefront of an eco-conscious individuals mind. What are natural fibres? Natural fibres are fabrics made from natural raw products. They include cotton, hemp, linen, bamboo, and jute. Fibres from these plants are then spun to create yarns that are made into fabric. Natural fibres are grown - not manufactured from chemical compounds, like synthetics. We're all aware of the importance of what we put into our bodies to fuel them with energy and the truth can also be said for what we put on to our bodies - and that starts with our clothing. So when it comes to travelling, why should you and your family opt for natural fibres? 1. Comfort Natural fibre are more comfortable to wear on the skin. They are moisture wicking, biodegradable, breathable, durable, naturally repellent to mould and dirt, and even heat responsive. In addition to this, man-made fibres such as viscose, nylon and polyester can cause reactions in sensitive skin causing itching, rashes, and irritation especially when active while travelling . 2. No-Brainer Care Cotton is easier to wash and care for than other fabrics, adding to the list of reasons we love it. Even better, cotton doesn’t retain odours like oil-based fabrics, so don’t stress if you forget to wash your favourite shirt. This also means cotton clothing will last longer and keep you fresher longer while travelling. Typically when travelling, you're either outsourcing laundry facilities, or like us just washing your clothes in the bathroom sink - having clothes that are easy to launder, that you don't have to worry about dry-cleaning or other specific laundering ensure that you still have beautiful prices to travel in. 3. Skin Sensitivities Unfortunately, I am super prone to prickly heat and usually get a severe case when travelling in warm climates. I can't wear fabrics that don't breathe on the skin as it irritates and makes rashes like prickly heat ten times worse. Letting the skin breathe is essential when dealing with skin conditions. Cotton is naturally hypoallergenic, has anti-bacterial qualities as well as being super soft - this why this cotton is used in bandages. It really is perfect for travellers with skin sensitivities. 4. Keep Cool & Stay Warm Cotton is a true allrounder. It protects you from the heat of the summer and cold in the winter. Cotton is made of many fibres, woven together to create a complete piece of fabric. These fibres trap air between you and the cotton and that layer of air can either warm up and keep you toasty, or flow freely to keep you cool. Our all natural cotton clothing will act in the same manner—keeping you comfortable no matter the season. 5. Durability Now that you’re convinced that the only material you’ll ever use is cotton, it’s good to know how durable it is. While discussing the many great qualities of cotton, it’s important to call out how strong this natural fibre really is. It’s strength means it won’t disintegrate in the washing machine, it won’t easily tear when wet, and can handle hot water and static without issue. Overall, choosing to travel with natural fibres reduces the items you need to pack, and you won't have to worry about your favourite pieces falling apart! Invest in natural fibres so you don't get caught out travelling. Clothes made from natural fibres are probably the best choice you can make in order to improve your health, well-being and comfort while travelling. These fibres are our go-to when travelling for both ourselves and our little travellers for both comfort, aesthetics and durability . Read those labels and understand what makes your clothing wonderful. All our love, Miann & Co x
This is a super hot topic, and something people get super passionate about. We get frequent emails and direct messages about sizing, and some of them are appreciative and some of them are defensive - but why? Here at Miann & Co we believe and are whole heartedly embracing the body positivity movement. Although our sizing currently only goes to around a 16-18, this is not a conscious choice, but one made from a personally funded point and we hope to grow and expanded our offering soon. Our sizing for womenswear has been described as generous, we regularly receive emails from women surprised at our sizing as it's not very typical in the Australian market. I'm also really passionate about helping women realise that there are, or should be multiple factors taken into account when it comes to choosing the correct size, not the number or letter on a sizing tag. Shape, fabrics and style are three other factors that come into play. I have struggled with my body image all my life. Numerous friends around me have struggled with the same issue. Buying clothing smaller than we actually are as 'motivation' to lose weight, hiding or even cutting off the tags of on our clothes. And honestly, as I hit the 40 mark it was like a switch when off in my head - I started to give less shits about the number size tag and began to care more about how clothing looks and feels on the body. Gone are the days of ordering a size to small, or dieting like crazy to fit the number on the clothing item. Hell no, Sister! Those days are gone and if I had the choice, I would make our garments sizeless - size really does not matter. We want to encourage women to embrace their beautiful shapes and be aware of and understand their shape. We urge all women when buying to not only look at the size, but the style and fabrication. Buying from a new brand and getting to know their sizing is also tricky. I have and wear three different sizes depending on the style and the fit of the garment. We understand the ways a woman's body can change, from pregnancy to postpartum and beyond. For this reason, we try our womenswear on different shapes and sizes. Where there is consistent feedback for a certain garment, we do try and add this into the product description for best size indication. We've also begun photographing on different bodies. We do all our photography in house, and more often than not (for the past three releases, we haven't worked with 'traditional' models at all), the models we use are employees or friends who agreed to help us out the night before. We do all of this ourselves within limited budgets, and we try our hardest to show our pieces on all women. Our size guides are exactly that - a guide. There are commercial tolerances that exist in the quality assurance world, this means that when people are checking your products anything that is a 1/2cm out on a flat measurement, or 4 cm on the circle measurement or round body measurement, does and can exist on a garment. With the modern advent of technical cutting, rather than hand cutting, these tolerances are definitely not as common. However, humans do make our clothing and so far as I am aware no machine has taken over the full manufacturing of our garments. I do want to emphasise that size guides are a guide, and there are tolerances that can fall within these. Below is an example of a guide. We normally give a chest measurement and a length as these are two of the main points of fitting. Next point to note is that these measurements are a half flat measurement, taken on a flat surface and are of the front of the garment only. This means it does not allow for the stretch measurement of knits or elastic. If you want a full chest measurement, you will need to double the flat measurement for the round body measurement. I have included what a size guide looks like below : A very rough guide of how our sizing works is: XS: 8-10 S: 10-12 M: 12-14 L: 14-16 XL: 16-18 Something that has also been very interesting was last year, working in a office of up to 5 women and seeing how we all wore the same garment differently, which is something super important to be aware of. The size you wear and the size you actually are can be two very different things. One style that we have photographed to show how it can be worn many different way is the Chloe Knit Pant. We originally designed these to be a loose, Harem Pant or Drop Crotch fit. However, the first time a model put these on for a campaign, she wore them as a fitted, high rise pant and we fell in love with this look, even though it was never the intention for them. Garments can be worn however you want! This is the beauty of buying your own clothes. We had a girl that contracted for us and although she had a standard Australian size 10 frame, she would often wear a size 22 in some brands! She loved the loose, oversize fit - it was her personal style. Style is exactly that - unique to the individual and so is sizing. Ladies, love your body, know your shape and wear what you feel confident and comfortable in. Because after all the best judge of if something looks goods or fits, is you. Happy shopping and I hope this helps when choosing your Miann & Co outfits! If you post a photo wearing out clothing, we would love for you to tag us and use the hashtag #miannandcowoman
